Starting at Oberstadt 3, in the heart of the old town, you'll open the Explorial app, enter the 6-digit game code that you received by text and Viator chat message, and step into a painted storybook. The tour is fully self-guided — no guide, no fixed start time, just your group and the city. Up at Kirche Burg and the Römerkastell, the riddles reach back furthest: a church standing inside the walls of a late-Roman fort that once watched over the Rhine frontier. At the Undertor, you'll pass beneath the medieval gate tower that still marks the entrance to the old town — spot the details the app asks about before you walk through. The Rathaus and its square are the grand finale: town hall, half-timbering, and facades frescoed with knights, merchants, and morals — the richest painted ensemble in Switzerland. Around 2 hours of storybook streets along the young Rhine. By the end, you'll understand why this little town took home the very first heritage prize.

You should definitely do it, even as a Swiss person!! Great hidden spot at the end, too, for taking photos or sitting on the bench! I just wish I could have kept playing longer!

Habe mit einigen Freunden Stein am Rhein durch Explorial erkundet. Super Spaß und interessante Aufgaben! Manche Rätsel waren knifflig, aber es war eine tolle Möglichkeit, die Stadt besser kennenzulernen. Ein bisschen schade war, dass wir einmal die App neustarten mussten, aber alles in allem ein tolles Erlebnis!
