After registration, the meeting point is at the Käfigturm. Then you walk through the old town. On the way, you can enjoy Bern's chocolate history. You will be served well-known chocolates. At the shop of a small chocolatier, you will also receive a box with a selection of award-winning chocolates. Conching was developed in Bern and has become the standard method for making chocolate worldwide. This is Bern's most important chocolate history, but at the same time it is also the least known. By being shown the conching technique, you will learn the true story of today's chocolate (melted chocolate). At the end, you will have seen the old town of Bern from a sweet perspective. Each guest must then decide for themselves whether Bern was a chocolate capital or whether the claim is just marketing.

The meeting point is at the Kaefigturm, Marktgasse 67, 3011 Bern. Please wait on the Bärenplatz side and, if it rains, in the gate of the Käfigturm. The guide will be dressed in red and will give you a warm welcome. Important: Outdoor clothing and comfortable shoes are recommended.

Knowledgeable guide, lots of samples
Felix was a chocolate aficionado. He not only gave us multiple samples including a cup full of chocolates plus a coupon for gelato, he provided two hot drinks—tea and gin& apple juice which tasted like mulled wine. He reprimanded me rather severely for recording what he said. I have done that in Italy, Latvia, Ireland, Scotland, and other countries & no one has complained, I only use the recordings to make detailed Facebook posts mostly for friends who are unable to travel.

Not as expected
The tour guide was knowledgeable but difficult to understand. I thought the tour was watching specialty chocolate being made. But the tour was walking around, hearing some chocolate history mixed with Bern history and being handed a piece of chocolate. It wasn’t what I thought the tour was as described.

Good chocolate
Informative tour with very good samples of Bernese chocolate. Payment, however, included two extra fees, as CHF was displayed but EUR was charged.

Fun family tour!
Fun tour through Bern with lots of yummy chocolate!!! Lots of historical information about the city!

Great Tour
our tour guide Felix was great! He really paced out the stops really nicely mixed in with information about Bern. The history of chocolate was very interesting. He had tons of samples for us to try. He was also great about keeping it in the shade on a hot day -highly recommend.
