The tour is carried out by an independent Guide, local passionate about the history and local life of his city at heart. You are often in small numbers (from 2 to 6 on average, max 10 people) , see in private group. I want to offer an original tour, different from those sometimes offered by the city, with a duration adaptable according to your pace and desires. I offer a digest and a balanced mix of history, urban development and local life with facts and anecdotes. I can give you suggestions for typical or unusual Things to do, places or food to allow you to extend your experience in Lake Geneva or Switzerland. See you soon!

We will start the visit on St. Francis Square and Church, south entrance to the medieval city of Lausanne and privileged place for exchanges between locals and Traveler from elsewhere.

We will continue to THE historic shopping street, with lots of shops and stories about Things to do and the sociology of its inhabitants.

Pont Charles Bessieres

We will cross the bridge connecting the two historic hills of Lausanne. We will talk about the topography of Lausanne and the development of urban infrastructure to adapt to it.

Cathedrale de Lausanne

The cathedral is THE iconic building of Lausanne. We discovered the stages and elements of its construction as well as the many historical events & anecdotes related to it. An outdoor tour of the esplanade with its panoramic view of the city and a short inside tour of the building are on the program.

Chateau Saint-Maire

The castle marks the northern limit of the city, at the top of the Cité hill. This place of power, past and present, is the ideal place to describe the political evolution of the city and canton in the Middle Ages and modern times. We will also get to know THE historical hero of the canton: Major DAVEL, key figure in the independence of the "Pays de Vaud".

This monumental neo-florentine palace is an important marker of the period of the Industrial Revolution and the emphasis on science, education and knowledge. We will walk through it to see its different spaces and tell the key historical elements that took place there.

This square is THE central heart of the city, a privileged place for meetings, commercial and political Things to do in Lausanne. We will discuss its strategic positioning, anecdotes about local life and the citizens' lives. This step can be the last one according to your desires. We can leave at this strategic location, with Tips for Things to Do or Other Later for the rest of your trip.

OPTIONAL-ACCORDING TO YOUR DESIRES This district is the new hub of Lausanne, between Transport, Shops & Things to Do and Nightlife. This old industrial district has been completely renovated in the 21st century. Its history is rich and marked a decisive stage in the historical development of Lausanne during the Swiss industrial revolution, between the 19th and 20th centuries. We can leave at this strategic location, with Tips for Things to Do or Other Later for the rest of your trip.

OPTIONAL PAID ( + 5 CHF/pers) according to desires This historic café and recreation area is a magnificent building, located on a hill overlooking Lake Geneva and a magnificent view. If you want to finish the tour with a drink (to buy by yourself) and on a more informal moment , I would be happy to take a moment to relax with you, to give advice on additional Things to do, other information or just enjoy the rest of the day.

We will finish not far from our Check-out point, at the strategic crossroads of the Flon district, Lausanne’s new leisure district and public transport hub. I can show you another point of arrival at your convenience.

Check-out in front of Starbucks Café, Place St-François 2 in Lausanne. Please arrive approximately 10 minutes before the scheduled Check-out Time to check in your tickets. I'd usually be there wearing a hat so you could easily spot me. See you soon!

Fab Tour!
Killian was a fabulous guide with so much historical and cultural information to share! We really enjoyed his knowledge of the city (as well as all the great places to sit and listen). He was well-prepared and friendly, and he made our first visit to Lausanne interesting and fun.

Lots to Learn About Lausanne
