Board the world-famous Bernina Express, a unique panoramic train. This extraordinary journey traverses breathtaking scenery, with spectacular views of snow-capped mountains, glittering glaciers and enchanting Alpine valleys. The UNESCO World Heritage route of the Bernina Express offers an unforgettable experience as the train climbs to an altitude of 2,253 metres on the Bernina Pass, one of the highest points reached by a railway in Europe. Passengers will be able to enjoy the panorama thanks to the large windows in the carriages, designed to offer a full view of the landscape. During the journey, the train will pass iconic sites such as Lake Bianco and the helical viaduct of Brusio, guaranteeing indelible memories. Tirano is a small corner of Italy, on the border with neighboring Switzerland, with authentic flavors and slow rhythms. The largest Basilica in Valtellina is located here. This is the Bernina Express' last stop.

From late October to late February, visibility of the landscape from the train windows may be reduced in the afternoon due to earlier sunset times. That said, the scenery and the train journey are extraordinary in every season.
Comfortable walking shoes recommended. Weather in the Alps can change quickly — bring a light layer.

There are many other options
Told to be at pickup no later than 6:45am, and guide strolled in at 7. Guide's English was barely passable and voice did not project for a group of 50. 30 minutes less than advertised in St. Moritz, and pointless 40 minutes in Tirano adding to a 13 hour day. Superb train ride; the rest was a waste.

not worth the cost
poor directions to meet guide, description of tour inaccurate. time in st moritz was much less than advertised and never visited church in turban as advertised. breakfast break was insufficient for amount of people. too many people on tour at least 45 some of which were picked up in lake como which cut down on other time. also tables in breakfast stop were unclean.
