نظرة عامة

Discover chocolate – experience happiness The Chocolarium, the lucky factory of Munz and Minor, is located in Flawil – close to Lake Constance and Appenzellland, between Zurich, Winterthur and St. Gallen. On the interactive tour, visitors will learn in a playful way how chocolate is created – and how happiness gets into it. From Tuesday to Friday, the glass gallery offers a fascinating look at the ongoing chocolate production. You can snack to your heart's content at several stations. If you like, you can decorate your own chocolate bar with our show confectioner. There is an exciting puzzle for children to join in. After the tour, guests can relax in the self-service café. In the shop, fresh chocolates are available directly from the factory. Ideal to combine with the Appenzell Show Cheese Shop, the Mogelsberg Treetop Trail or the UNESCO World Heritage Site of St. Gallen. Further information: www.chocolarium.ch

    The disappointment

The reading cards were already very worn, so that some of them were partially no longer readable. Unfortunately, the hygiene also left something to be desired. Everyone was rummaging around in the containers. The desired learning effect or the educational impact was unfortunately not recognizable to us. In addition, a chocolate fountain did not work. Unfortunately, it was not always clear to me what the individual stations were intended for or what one is supposed to do during certain interactive games. Overall, the visit was therefore unfortunately very disappointing. We would have wished for significantly more care, cleanliness, and better preparation of the individual stations.

🍫 Visit to the Chocolarium - for the 90th. Birthday 🎉

From the bus stop "Flawil Maestrani," ladybugs show the way to the entrance 🐞 and the ground is nicely marked, indicating how many meters are left to happiness. 👍🏼 We visited the Chocolarium normally for CHF 16.- per person. It begins with a systematic film by a happiness researcher, who believes, that one actually only needs love, freedom and chocolate for happiness. The tour is interactive, interesting, and especially educational for children. One can e.g. milk a cow.🐄 There are various chocolates to taste, and you can see into the production halls through glass panels. Decorating your own chocolate costs extra. At the end, there is a shop and a small café. We did not notice much of the 90th birthday or festive atmosphere. There is a huge chocolate birthday cake. For CHF 3.50, one can buy a piece of it. You can only participate in the guessing competition if you have a Google account, and at another location, you need Instagram. At the so-called photo booth, you can only take a photo with your own phone. At a small slot machine, there was a very friendly employee. and you even received a wrapped, super delicious MINOR Crunchy chocolate stick! 🎰 🍫

Disappointing class attendance despite great expectations

We visited the Chocolarium with a school class and the children were very much looking forward to this trip. Unfortunately, our overall impression was clearly disappointing. The welcome was already very sober: Although there was an employee at the cash desk, we were not admitted or welcomed. Orientation or hints for school classes were completely missing. In addition, I booked the offer “Decorate chocolate” for 210.– for all children. While waiting in the cinema for the film, however, suddenly an employee came and rebuked us in a very sharp tone that we were too loud, as their office space was next door. The children had merely laughed – mind you, it is an offer that is explicitly intended for children. During the subsequent tour of the Chocolarium, the production hall was completely empty, which surprised us a lot. We were just looking forward to showing the children the chocolate production live, as we had covered this topic in class. Since it was a Thursday, we wondered why no one was present. Prior information on this would have been very desirable. Overall, there was significantly less to see than expected. In addition, the children were thirsty over time – a water station would have been very helpful here. When decorating chocolate, we had to wait a very long time despite registration, as only a single employee was on site. Again, we were repeatedly reprimanded, partly because the lids of the ornaments had not been closed – although other visitors were there at the same time. The chocolate bars then had to be placed in the cooling lock, and we waited a very long time until all 21 bars were cooled. When unpacking we were reprimanded again, as allegedly not everything had been properly supplied. My students behaved decently throughout the visit. We found the repeated, sometimes very unfriendly rebukes by several employees to be inappropriate and disappointing – especially towards a school class. Too bad, because the Chocolarium would have great potential to be a positive experience, especially for children. We travelled there for two hours and paid for it with the class box office money. Too bad

    Should be more dynamic

It should be more dynamic, they just put a video in the room and you start your tour, nobody explains anything, you just read what is on the walls and you can try the chocolates. I had high expectations the only thing that saved him was the chocolate tests.

A fantastic way to experience how Swiss chocolate is made

Whoever designed this was a genius. This person figured out that if children on a tour are happy, then all adults (including those of us whose children these aren't) are happy. And, conversely, if a child is unhappy, then our experience is lessened. This tour is fun! From the first moment to the last, Munz reinforced the message all aspects of chocolate, from making it to eating, are fun. This is the perfect descriptor for this experience. Bright, consistent graphics. Things for children through adults to enjoy doing and eating. Hands on. Taste buds on. What a fantastic way to experience how Swiss chocolate is made. [And bring the kids.]
