Travel by regional train through lush farmland before reaching a mountain resort town. This private tour, includes all transportation by train and aerial cableway.

Start your journey at 7:45am with your friendly and professional guide. Enjoy a 40-minute train ride through scenic farmland, which brings you to the historic resort town of Engelberg (Angel Mountain). Hop on a bus to the end of the valley. Now board a cable car for a breathtaking ascent up to 1™850 m/6™070 ft and into the midst of snow-capped peaks and glaciers towering a further 1™000m/3™000 ft above you. Start your hike on a circular trail with a vista point offering the best view over the valley and the north face of Mt Titlis, the highest mountain peak in the area(40 mins). Continue hiking on the plateau trail overlooking the valley with views to the surrounding high mountain peaks. As the path narrows you start descending to Abnet. Depending on fitness levels, interest and ability, either take a rustic cable car ride down to the lunch stop, or continue on foot. Continuing on foot, pass the thundering Stauber waterfall and hear the intriguing legend of why Canton Uri has a bull's head on its cantonal flag. Hike further into the valley through green pastures and hear the rush of mountain streams and clanking of cow bells. Enjoy a 1-hour lunch at Staefeli at a traditional alpine farm inn that offers homemade specialties (Tip - bring cash not credit cards). After lunch, gently descend on a 1½ hour hike along a path into the tree line and then through forest with a glacier stream keeping you company until you reach the cable car station again. The local bus returns you to Engelberg (last departure at 5pm) with time left to check out the show cheese-maker in the old monastery buildings or wander through the pretty village before taking the train back to Lucerne (5pm - 6pm).

Amalia = best guide
Amalia was top notch. She knew the land, even history about Switzerland. Would highly suggest when booking you ask for her to be your guide.

William Tell hiking tour outside of Lucerne
We had a wonderful day hiking and sightseeing with Melanie. She picked us up at out hotel in Lucerne and we traveled by train and bus to our hiking location. We viewed Rutli meadow where Switzerland was founded and hiked about 3-4 hours with a tasty picnic lunch. Then we returned to Lucerne by boat. Melanie is very knowledgeable and fun to be with. We highly recommend her! She went the extra mile to make our day memorable! Thanks Melanie!

Wow! Challenging and beautiful hike…and cows!!
Majestic views on this hike. We loved our guide, Amalia. She was personable, knowledgeable and encouraging. We chose to hike up to the peak instead of starting up and hiking down. It was challenging but felt like an accomplishment at the end. Would recommend trail shoes or hiking boots and plenty of sunscreen and water!

Wonderful Mountain Experience
My mom and I had been wanting to do this trek for the past few years but had difficulty finding the right tour operator. When we found EchoRails, we were thrilled with the ability to personalize the tour and their willingness to accommodate our schedule. Communication in advance of the tour was incredibly helpful - they had everything organized and made accessing the information we needed a seamless process. By far the highlight of the trip was our guide, Mel. She was so knowledgeable, kind, and competent. Genuinely one of the best guides we have ever had, and both my mom and I travel frequently. Mel exceeded every expectation. She made our treks so much fun. Since my mother is 71, we were both a bit nervous about some of the trails, but Mel gave my mom the confidence she needed to successfully complete the hikes. She even provided hiking poles from her own collection! She was absolutely fantastic and we are so grateful for her efforts. We look forward to returning someday!

Best Part of the Alps Visit!!
The tour of the Arno was amazing!! We hiked about 6 miles back into the area around Mount Titus. Arno knew were are older so he carefully adapted the hike to ensure we could complete the hike up the mountain, to the farm restaurant for lunch, and back down to catch the bus/train. All of the travel accommodations to the trailhead were managed and arranged ahead of time and there were no wasted minutes waiting for transfers. Arno was so impressive as a guide - patient, knowledgeable and interested in us as people. We felt that we made a new friend along the way. It was my husband’s favorite part of our trip to Switzerland. We highly recommend this individual tour.

Switzerland via Alpina hiking trip
My husband and I had such a great trip. Walter, our tour guide was incredible! His knowledge, patience and humor made our trip even more enjoyable. Walter made sure the hikes were suited best for our group. We could not have asked for a better guide.
