Start your tour with the one hour lake boat transfer from Luzern to Alpnachstad. After leaving the bay of Luzern, the boat glides along the shore of Hergiswil and Stansstad to the bay of Alpnach. On the entire boat tour you have the surrounding mountains in sight.

Alpnachstad is the connection point between the lake boat and the steepest cogwheel train in the world. Within 35 minutes the cogwheel train climbs along the ridge and passing alpine meadows to Pilatus Kulm.

In terms of population, Kriens is the third largest municipality and the second largest city in the Swiss canton of Lucerne. It lies at the foot of Mount Pilatus and borders Lucerne to the east. At Kriens you leave the aerial cableway and after a 10 minutes walk to the bus stop, you board the local bus to Luzern.

Good but not great… booking manager is RUDE!
Our experience started off great, but once we got to the Mt Pilatus cogwheel things started to shift. Our guide, Alex, was great and this was no fault to him. They only gave him 2 tickets when there were 4 of us. We paid a lot of money for this experience and to have a mess up that bad is unfortunate & unacceptable. We ended up calling the activity manager, Carolyn Christine, who was extremely rude and hung up on us. No help whatsoever. We finally got in touch with Mike and he said he would fix it. We had to wait over an hour to be able to go up on the cogwheel which just made our whole day extremely long - especially for my 70 year old parents. I did this private booking experience to avoid delays, stress and wasted time.

Great trip to Mt. Pilatus with Rolf
Rolf was prepared, informative, kind, and extremely helpful throughout our trip from our hotel, boat trip, cogwheel train trip, Mt. Pilatus visit, gondola ride down and bus ride back to Lucerne. I highly recommend him and this tour.

Tour that exceeded all expectations!
Highly recommend this tour! I have used Viator in many different countries and have never had anything less than a great experience. Our guide Aneh was beyond amazing. She was organized, made efficient use of the time, so knowledgeable and answered all our questions and she was fun and friendly! The views from the top of mt pilatus were breathtaking, transporting from bus to boat to cog train to cable car was all effortless. Have recommended Viator to all my friends and will always use on future trips!

We had clouds at the top...
We had clouds at the top of the mountain but otherwise had a wonderful day on the lake and mountain. Our guide Adrian was helpful and informative.

Incredible Tour and Guide

Amazing Day
What a great day! The gondola ride, the tram in the sky, the steps to the peak where we actually got snowed on, and then back down on the cogwheel train was all amazing. Plus our guide Adrian was wonderful, knowledgeable, friendly and fun to be with. Highly recommend.
