    Echo Rails Tour excellent trip

I had a wonderful time on the guided Rail Trail Tour! Jack Jennings was an awesome, knowledgeable, and patient guide! He made the trip better! We also had another small group with us that was lead by Lou who was a outstanding guide as well! Both guides are great! Going up as high into the Alps as you could go on a train is something you have to experience! The hotels were very nice, clean, and comfortable. I recommend Echo Rails tour based on this amazing trip.

Thank you Echo Rails for our fantastic Train Tour of Switzerland

Our Echo Rails tour far exceeded any expectations we had. Our guides Lou and Jack were absolutely amazing. They handled every detail of our luggage transfers ,hotel stays , excellent restaurants, tours and train travel . They made sure that we each saw and experienced everything in the beautiful towns we stayed in and the scheduled tours we took. After Jack and the 14 members of our group left ( they were on the 9 day tour) Lou escorted the 4 of us through the final days of our trips. Nobody could be as knowledgeable, kind and detail oriented as Lou. She clearly went above and beyond in everything she did for our tour group. Switzerland is a beautiful country and this trip was one the best we have ever taken. We are already looking at other rail tours that Echo Rails offers in other countries.

Highly Recommend Echo Rails Grand Tour of Switzerland

We chose the 9 day rail tour. Overall experience was terrific. Spectacular iconic sights, beautiful country and people. This is a well planned rail trip itinerary. Our guide, Sari, enhanced the trip with her energy, knowledge of places of interest and Swiss society, work ethic, and heartfelt kindness. She is an asset to this company, Hotels were very good. A few of the dinners most in the group agreed could have been better, most were very good. Breakfast in every hotel was exceptional. If you love chocolate and cheese, Switzerland is your destination, We would certainly recommend Echo Rails if you want to experience Switzerland by Rails.

    What a fabulous trip!!

My husband and I (early 70s) just came home from the Grand 13 Day Rail Trip to Switzerland and had a very positive experience. Prior to the trip the company had several video meetings to tell us what to expect and answer questions. Detailed itineraries were provided which gave exacting instructions on how each day would flow. The hotels were very nice and clean. Our guides, Lou Stone and Jack Jennings were worth their weight in gold. Each went out of their way to make sure the guest had a positive experience. My husband has mobility issues and every effort was made to either assist him with the day's activity or suggest an alternative for him. They both went above and beyond to arrange alternative transportation when it would have been difficult for him to walk. Lou went so far as to push him in a wheelchair at one of the sites he didn't want to miss. Breakfast was provided every day and dinner all but two nights. There were always meal choices and at times we were able to order from the menu. All of the excursions were interesting and well run. I can't say enough about this tour, the company or the guides. I'm very hopeful of being able to take their new Northern Italy Tour in the future. We loved the small group experience.

    Excellent mountain guides in Switzerland

The highlights of our rail tour of Switzerland was the excellent private guides that took us on day excursions in the alps. Our first guide, Andreas Zwimpfer, met us at our hotel in Luzern and took us on excursions to Mount Pilatus and Mount Rigi, and a fun boat tour on lake Luzern. Andreas was very helpful, showing me to how to navigate using the Swiss railways app and giving us good advice for the rest of our journey.. He was also full of excellent information about the history of these beautiful places, and made a special arrangements for us to have front row seats on the cog wheel train. Our second guide, Petr Pospisil, was fantastic. He met us in in Zermat and escorted us up around the mountains by the Matterhorn. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Petr, and he imparted a profound sense of wonder and respect for the nature all around us. We also had an excellent lunch at Restaurant Alphitta, with a fantastic view of the Materhorn from their patio. Spending the time with Petr was the highlight of our whole trip. There were only a few negative experiences of our grand rail tour. We did not enjoy the glacier express train ride because we were not assigned window seats and were stuck for five hours with a large non-English tour group that took over the whole carriage. There was very little time to even get off the train and walk around and it was too long to be stuck with a noisy group. Another disappointment was trying to navigate some of the train connections, which allowed for very little time to get off of one platform and onto another to catch the next train, which was impossible with all of our luggage., Overall, it was a fun experience and Switzerland is a very beautiful country.

    Best way to see Switzerland!

We recently returned from 13 day Icon Grand Rail Tour. Our guide Criss shared her wealth of knowledge with us and she went above and beyond to handle the requests of all the different personalities and individual needs within our group. All our meals were delicious, and Criss's suggestions for meals not included were excellent. She worked with every restaurant to ensure that my husband with celiac received a gluten free meal. We couldn't have asked for a better itinerary which provided us with beautiful scenery, organized transportation, and luggage transfers. The luxury of being provided with an already detailed time schedule and not having to personally carry luggage every 2 days was a huge plus. Our suggestion is to see the beautiful country of Switzerland by traveling with ECHO.
