Sobre a vaga

FPGA System Engineer - Quantum Microscopy WHO WE ARE Qnami is a Quantum Design Company and pioneer in the Quantum Sensing industry since 2017. We transform fundamental physics into high-precision scientific instruments. Based in Basel, we sit at the forefront of the "second quantum revolution," developing diamond-based sensors used by leading academic researchers and R&D engineers at top-tier semiconductor and high-tech companies worldwide For more than 40 years Quantum Design (QD) has been providing technology solutions to researchers in the fields of physics, chemistry, biotechnology, materials science, and nanotechnology. Established in 1982, Quantum Design is the leading commercial source for automated materials characterization systems offering a variety of measurement capabilities. QD instruments are found in the world's leading research institutions and have become the reference standard for a variety of magnetic and physical property measurements. YOUR MISSION As an FPGA System Engineer, you will play a key role in the development of our next-generation Quantum Microscopy product line. Working at the intersection of FPGA design, embedded systems, signal processing, and scientific instrumentation, you will design and deploy high-performance real time systems that power advanced quantum sensing applications. You will take ownership of FPGA-based system architecture and implementation, leveraging RFSoC technology and the PYNQ framework to bridge hardware and software. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate closely with physicists, software engineers, and product developers to transform cutting-edge quantum sensing concepts into robust, customer-ready products. This is a hands-on role with direct impact on the performance, capabilities, and future direction of an innovative new product line. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIESFPGA & Real-Time System Development • Design, implement, and maintain FPGA-based real-time systems for signal generation, acquisition, and processing. • Develop high-performance digital architectures and data pipelines to support advanced quantum sensing applications.• Translate system requirements into reliable and scalable FPGA solutions. RFSoC & Embedded System Integration • Develop and integrate FPGA designs on RFSoC platforms. • Collaborate with software engineers to create efficient hardware-software interfaces using embedded Linux and -based control systems. • Support the integration of FPGA subsystems into the overall instrument architecture. Testing, Validation & Optimization • Debug, test, and validate FPGA designs on hardware platforms. • Optimize system performance, timing, throughput, and reliability. • Utilize laboratory instrumentation and FPGA debugging tools to troubleshoot and characterize system behaviour. Product Development & Collaboration • Work closely with physicists, software engineers, and product developers to deliver innovative microscopy solutions. • Contribute to system architecture decisions and technology roadmaps for next-generation products. • Support projects from concept through deployment, taking ownership of key technical deliverables. YOUR PROFILE Education & Experience • MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field. • 3+ years of experience developing FPGA-based systems for scientific, industrial, telecommunications, or embedded applications. • Demonstrated experience delivering complex hardware projects from concept through deployment. • Work experience in instrumentation, radar or high-speed data acquisition is a strong plus. FPGA & Digital Design • Strong experience with FPGA development using VHDL and/or Verilog. • Solid understanding of digital design principles, timing closure, clock-domain crossing, and FPGA verification methodologies. • Experience with Xilinx/AMD FPGA development tools, including Vivado. • Familiarity with FPGA IP integration and system-on-chip architectures. Embedded Systems & Software Integration • Experience developing FPGA systems that interface with embedded processors and Linux based environments. • Familiarity with hardware-software co-design and integration. • Working knowledge of for system integration, testing, or automation. Signal Processing & Instrumentation. • Understanding of digital signal processing concepts and real-time data acquisition systems. • Experience working with high-speed interfaces, streaming architectures, and deterministic control systems. • Familiarity with scientific instrumentation, measurement systems, or data acquisition platforms. Debugging & Problem Solving • Hands-on experience debugging FPGA designs on hardware. • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Communication & Collaboration • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams spanning hardware, software, and scientific domains. • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical solutions. • Self-driven, hands-on mindset with a willingness to take ownership of technical challenges. WHAT WE OFFER • Exposure to Quantum Technology and real-world experience in modernizing a production engineering software environment • Hands-on exposure to software architecture, version control, deployment and testing • Opportunities to lead an impactful software development effort • Experience working with critical tools used in scientific and manufacturing operations • Short communication and decision-making paths within an interdisciplinary team • A collaborative working environment in a highly skilled, international team, with operations in Basel (Switzerland) and Pfungstadt (Germany). • A primarily on-site role in Muttenz/Basel with flexible remote working options within the requirements of an instrument-development role • Opportunities for professional growth and technical leadership. jid74686b1cs jit0937cs jiy26cs
